SFA X’mas Carnival 2011

Ho..ho..ho...Merry X`mas :)

The Church of St Francis of Assisi (SFA) had a SFA X’mas Carnival on Dec 3, 2011 from 9.00am to 3.00pm at the church grounds. This would be SFA’s last fund raising event for the year.

The children and the young at heart kept busy hopping from one game stall to another with 15 exciting games to be put to challenge. Visitors also spoil for choices from the 30 food stalls selling a wide spread of food from local delicacies to traditional East Malaysian and Indonesian favourites and not forgetting food from the African Community.

Also some stage performances and not forgetting clowns and a magic show for children as well as bonanza draws with attractive prizes to be won. Futsal enthusiasts are also not forgotten. There`s 5-a-side futsal competition.

It`s a fun-filled day…….a day of giving & sharing for the entire family.

cutting activities

when my girl turned two, i bought her a scissors. i agree at first, i was nervous with giving my girl scissors.

i showed her how to hold it and provide lots of scrap paper for her to cut across. now she`s three, and i was surprised how quickly she has developed good independent control over her scissors.

i see absolutely nothing wrong with allowing a 2 or 3 year old to have experience with scissors, but obviously when it comes to using scissors, it is best to give toddlers and preschoolers some boundaries ... and yes, that may mean that they'll cut something they shouldn't (like hair) ^_^

when do you introduce scissors to your child ?

do you let your toddler or preschooler use scissors?

do they only do ‘cutting’ with help or do you let them practise independently?

when are kids too BIG for a stroller?

Are you a mom who puts your big kids in a stroller,

or did you get rid of your stroller when your kid turned two?

I can see the need for an older kid to be in a stroller if a family doesn't own a car or if they must walk with their kids for a long day, like at shopping mall or at an amusement park. I tend to side with the parents who think you should make your kids walk as much as possible as soon as they are able to walk. But I would never ever ever actually say anything to any parent who had their child in a stroller, because you never know their personal situation or for medical reasons.

My girl is almost 3 years, and no longer use the stroller since she was able to walk by 1 year plus. Why? simply because I want her to walk. It`s pretty hard at first, because whenever she feel uneasy then I must carry her, but I don`t mind at all, we both get used to it.

she was my (ex) close friend, she claimed we ~~best~~ friends !! i knew her since year 1998. sometimes i think that we would be so perfect for each other. but after many years of feeling trapped, the last thing i want to avoid her. i spent most of my life pleasing her, while suffering quietly myself, and 3 years ago i left her, that`s it !!! i`m done, baby...

it`s not easy, but we need to change,rite? i believe in second chances, i just don`t think everyone deserves them. i gave her so many chances tough !!!

BUT, for the past these 3 years, (some) people around me keep telling ~~forcing~~ me to get back to her. i`m so stressed! don`t u know guys..i`ve my own personal issues for not contact her. come on, i`m only a human being, i just want to move on. *forgive & forget*

Rossa Roslaina Sri Handayani (born on October 9, 1978 in Sumedang, West Java,Indonesia), popularly known mononymously as Rossa, is an Indonesian singer.

Ah Beng was asked to make a sentence using 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9,10.

Not only he do it 1 to 10, he did it again from 10 back to 1.

This is what he came up with.....

1 day I go 2 climb a 3 outside a house to peep. But the couple saw me, so I panic and 4 down. The man rushed out and wanted to 5 with me. I ran until I fell 6 and threw up. So I go into 7-eleven and grabbed some 8 to throw at him. Then I took a 9 and try to stab at him. 10 God he run away.

It seems that children are constantly wanting to emulate things that adults do. Cooking certainly isn't exempt, and there are many things that children can make on their own, or with little supervision. Being able to say they prepared an entire meal for the family will certainly be a self esteem booster as well.

Only the parent will know which tasks a certain child is able to safely perform without a helping hand. Things that would need supervision would be things such as lighting a gas oven, or perhaps some of the cutting preparation depending on the age of the child. They usually are happy with that little bit of help, as long as the actual creation of the dish is theirs alone.

"my mami" (mother/ibu) is a firm lady, for her, the obedience and the respest are the most important things above all. she always be my parent, not a friend for me until i was much older. she wants her children grown-up, be mature and solve our own problems, but end of the day, she is willing to help. she always be there whenever we need her.

i wish my mom would be less strict and more cool. but i would never wish to have different mother, she is my mom, she will always be "my mami". she always teach me the honesty, truthfulness and the faithfulness are above everything in this life.

she always provide me for all the need to survive, she always give me the support that i need to achieve something. she always remind me, that parent/kid relationship not always base on material goods. of course, we all love to seeing our kids in expensive clothes, but is it neccessary? is it worth it?

my mom is very good at delegating jobs at home. since i was young, i was required to make my own bed, cleaning the house, clearing dishes off the table and helping around with my sisters. the same thing i teach to my girl. i`ve to make sure she gets along with simple and basic duties like brushing teeth her own and cleaning up the mess. i believe a child should be provided with the opportunity to start learning responsibility at very young age. do u agree parents?

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder

ADHD is a common behavioral disorder that affects an estimated 8% to 10% of school-age children. Boys are about three times more likely than girls to be diagnosed with it, though it's not yet understood why.
Kids with ADHD act without thinking, are hyperactive, and have trouble focusing. They may understand what's expected of them but have trouble following through because they can't sit still, pay attention, or attend to details.

Of course, all kids (especially younger ones) act this way at times, particularly when they're anxious or excited. But the difference with ADHD is that symptoms are present over a longer period of time and occur in different settings. They impair a child's ability to function socially, academically, and at home.
The good news is that with proper treatment, kids with ADHD can learn to successfully live with and manage their symptoms.

ADHD is not caused by poor parenting, too much sugar, or vaccines. ADHD may run in families, but it is not clear exactly what causes it. Whatever the cause may be, it seems to be set in motion early in life as the brain is developing.

In most cases, ADHD is best treated with a combination of medication and behavior therapy. Any good treatment plan will require close follow-up and monitoring, and your doctor may make adjustments along the way. A new survey revealed some surprising and some not so surprising statistics about what women really think about their Facebook friends.
The survey found that the majority of women were annoyed by some common personality types and traits shared by their friends.

some people may be "shy" because they might have a social anxiety, depression, some other type of disorder, or a combination of. these disorders may affect their ability to socialize or live well.

they would rather be silent instead of using demure insults or obscene language to get their point across.it is quite hard to explain why people are shy, there is no real way to explain. it is also part of being human, rite?

but, this "friend" is so weird, i know her quite sometimes. she wants to know more about me, my family and my anak. she`ll try her best to find out stories about my anak from other people. i did ask her back about her anak, but sometimes she ignores me or she would answer like this,"i don`t know".

i thought as mommy-friends, we can share how to raise our anak, yeah u know, when mommies get together, they will tell this and that about their kids. sharing is caring? yeah...but it seems so hard for her to tell "her secret weapon" to me. i don`t mind if she taknak bagi tahu.

so my conclusion is,

don`t ask her anymore

After 21 years of marriage, my wife wanted me to take another woman out to dinner and a movie.. She said I love you but I know this other woman loves you and would love to spend some time with you.

The other woman that my wife wanted me to visit was my MOTHER, who has been a widow for 19 years, but the demands of my work and my three children had made it possible to visit her only occasionally.

That night I called to invite her to go out for dinner and a movie.

'What's wrong, are you well,' she asked? My mother is the type of woman who suspects that a late night call or a surprise invitation is a sign of bad news.

'I thought that it would be pleasant to be with you,' I responded. 'Just the two of us.'

She thought about it for a moment, and then said, 'I would like that very much...'

That Friday after work, as I drove over to pick her up I was a bit nervous.

When I arrived at her house, I noticed that she, too, seemed to be nervous about our date. She waited in the door with her coat on.. She had curled her hair and was wearing the dress that she had worn to celebrate her last wedding anniversary.

She smiled from a face that was as radiant as an angel's.

'I told my friends that I was going to go out with my son, and they were impressed, 'she said, as she got into the car. 'They can't wait to hear about our meeting'. We went to a restaurant that, although not elegant, was very nice and cozy. My mother took my arm as if she were the First Lady.

After we sat down, I had to read the menu. Large print. Half way through the entries, I lifted my eyes and saw Mom sitting there staring at me. A nostalgic smile was on her lips.

'It was I who used to have to read the menu when you were small,' she said. 'Then it's time that you relax and let me return the favor,' I responded.

During the dinner, we had an agreeable conversation - nothing extraordinary, but catching up on recent events of each other's life..

We talked so much that we missed the movie..

As we arrived at her house later, she said, 'I'll go out with you again, but only if you let me invite you.' I agreed.

'How was your dinner date?' asked my wife when I got home. 'Very nice'.

Much more so than I could have imagined,' I answered.

A few days later, my mother died of a massive heart attack. It happened so suddenly that I didn't have time to do anything for her.
Some time later, I received an envelope with a copy of a restaurant receipt from the same place mother and I had dined.

An attached note said: 'I paid this bill in advance. I wasn't sure that I could be there; but nevertheless, I paid for two plates - one for you and the other for your wife. You will never know what that night meant for me.

I love you, son.'

At that moment, I understood the importance of saying in time: 'I LOVE YOU!' and to give our loved ones the time that they deserve. Nothing in life is more important than God and your family. Give them the time they deserve, because these things cannot be put off till 'some other time.'

many of you say that when you see a toddler with a pacifier in her mouth, you wonder what the parent is doing wrong. i think one of you even said that you wondered if the parent was neglecting her child !?!

the judgement like this sometimes make me nervous.

i "introduce" the binky to my daughter for the very first time in age 3 months, she is madly in love with this dummy until NOW, ( she`s 29 months ), it only prior bedtime nites.

most nites we follow a nice daily schedule bedtime rituals involving teeth-brushing, change PJs and snuggle time. then after that, she`ll ask for it, my daughter will bring her pacifier, her blanket and her LOLO ( red hippo bolster ) to her bed. these three gadgets is a must before i put her to sleep :)

i`ve tried to weaning her off the pacifier, by cutting off the tip, but it really make her upset and frustrated me.

i know i must try harder and it`s not an easy task !!!

so eventually i came to the conclusion that the pacifier wasn't hurting my little girl one bit. she is a well-adjusted, remarkably happy child, and if the pacifier gives her a little extra comfort at bedtime, than so be it. after all, we, grown ups also have our own comfort rituals before sleep, whether reading simple stuff or watching tv before we fall asleep.

so why deprive her of something so innocent and inconsequential as a binky?

Here are some tips on the right way to issue a warning.

STEP 1: Warn wisely. Choose a consequence that fits the crime ("If you throw any more sand, we're leaving the beach"), and be prepared to act on it. (In other words, if you're not ready to pack up and go, consider instead making the consequence withholding his sand toys or revoking swimming privileges for a while.)

STEP 2: Reprise. If your warning goes unheeded, briefly state why you're disciplining him ("I'm taking this toy away because you threw it at your brother") to help make the connection between your tot's behavior and the consequence. Keep it simple or the message will be lost.

STEP 3: Act quickly. Toddlers have short memories, so depriving your toddler of chocolate pudding after dinner because of a waffle-tossing incident at breakfast pretty much ensures that he won't link the misdeed with its consequence. So make sure you discipline right after the infraction — not three hours later.

STEP 4: Request a replay. After enacting a consequence, briefly review the events that led to it. "I took away the ball because you were throwing it against the glass coffee table." Once your toddler is verbal, you can enlist him in the replay by asking him: "Why did I take away the ball?" Allowing him to answer will help him internalize what he did wrong. In most cases, though, until your toddler is closer to age three you'll have to answer the question yourself.

STEP 5: Forgive and forget. Postdiscipline, life should return to normal. There should be no lingering resentment (no stern looks or silent treatment, for instance) or lengthy lectures on your part, nor should you go overboard with affection or apologies since that'll only send the message that you regret having disciplined him.

Errmmm, I thought I had one.

She was really close to me.

Make Music A Part Of Your Child`s Life

I love music, I like to dance, and love to sing. I believe the power of the music. Don`t you?

And I believe music is a wonderful way to help your child learn and make sense of the world.

I`ve been introduce music to my child since she`s inside my womb.

Everyday with different kinds of music...classical, hip hop, blues, rock, jazz, dance, country, folk, gospel, dangdut (google it!!)

Now in her age 2, she can sing and dance along with me. She will make her moves whenever she listen to the music. She can request to me "Mommy, patte...patte, dance, dance, stand please" ( She speaks some words in tamil, patte meaning song ).

Here`s how to make music a part of your child :

* Music aids speech development.
By repeating simple songs, you help your child learn the basics of the spoken language and build up their vocabulary. The ABC song, for example, is simple yet enables your child to remember 26 different alphabets easily.

"Sing songs with names of animals, plants and other objects with your child. Record her singing and play it back to her later".

* Music encourages self-expression.
At an age when children cannot express themselves in words yet, music allows them to explore a whole range of feelings.

"Sing songs that express various emotions like happiness, sadness, grumpiness and eagerness with hand actions. You can use puppets and toys to express these emotions too".

* Music helps children learn numbers.
Children who know music and rhythm are able to relate to numbers better and faster than those who did not.

"Sing songs with numbers such as Ten Little Indian Boys and accompany it with hand actions that reflect the numbers".

* Music enhances social skills.
Children who join toddler music groups or sing in pre-schools learn to cooperate and have fun with their peers. This helps them build better social skills.

"Encourage children to sing and play music together. Get them to join in songs and dances that require them to interact".

* Music builds self-confidence.
Encourage your child to take part in music – whether there is an audience or not. This boosts their self-confidence and encourages them to learn and take on new challenges.

"Pay attention to your child whenever she sings or plays music. Praise her, clap along and applaud her enthusiastically when she finishes her little performance".

You Can`t Friend Me, I Quit !!!

I joined Facebook about 3 years ago.

My friends said I should have an FB account to re-connect with them,

because most of them is staying around the world.

So I decided to open one facebook account,

then I met my former friends..long long time friends,

new friends, friends of my friends,

long lost relatives, relatives friend`s friend,

not so friends,

even strangers !!!

I was so addicted on it.

I was sitting here, at work,

keep thinking up my next status update

which is where I broadcast to my online friends

in a few words what I`m doing at that very moment.

Then I started to use facebook for business also.

The outcame was not bad at all.

Then finally came up to my mind to stop all these.

I found some of my friends "misuse" the photos,

throwing un-proper words and sentences

by using facebook...

which make me so sad.

I don`t want this "bukuwajah" anymore....

When I think about all the hours

I wasted this past year on facebook,

and imagine the good I could have done instead,

ssssttttttt (except the RM)

I don`t know what else to say....

I must quit,

QUIT....!!!

So goodbye 1,297 friends..

you can`t find me anymore at facebook,

I QUIT !!!

11.50am --- received a call from McD Pandan Mewah Manager, she apologize on behalf of McD restaurant and call centre for the incident, she said on that day their restaurant system has breakdown and already inform the call centre earlier. She said the call centre suppose to inform me. But failed to do so.
11.55am --- The lady manager explained from A-Z their operating system ( good job Madam !!! ) quite impressed with her efforts !!!
12.05pm --- She offered me to having their food,exactly same item when I ordered two days ago ( oh no, no, no... today no McD plsssssss !!!! ) even FOC ( sorry Madam ! )
12.10pm --- Again she apologize, and told me that someone will come to my house to give some voucher. And invite me to come to their restaurant and meet her personally. ( good idea :D )
06.10pm --- Received an apologize explaination letter and gift vouchers from McD ( case closed !!! )

Every day is Malaysia Day for us

5.50pm --- call McD delivery service, replace my order...waiting time is approx. 45 minutes (errrmm fine la, since really crave for McD food ).
6.50pm --- where`s my food ?? after almost wait for an hour. so I call again to check my order status. they said my order already sent-out at 6pm !!! they only ask me to wait, and promise to call me back...( sssttt, they never call me !!! ).
7.10pm --- where`s my food ?? again I rang them, same story :(
8.30pm --- someone called me to apologies, they said their system was down, so now only they receive my order, ridiculous!!!! even they can ask me, still nak ke??

I want this !!!

My Bunny Energizer

I have a 27 month old cheeky little girl called Evva

( pronounce : Eva / english ) ,

why double v? saje la..stylo milo lor....

people always wrong pronounce her name,

so we have to correct them, or actually we`re wrong ?

aiyoooo...ape-ape je la.. :D

Since I have her in my life, I find my world is so fantastic, tough but FUN!!

She`s an active girl. She won`t stand still or sit properly in one place...

unless Mr. Bean is showing on TV :)

She loves to smile to everyone. Such a lovely and friendly girl.

She drives me toward challenge after challenge,

day after day I find and learn new things from her.

From handling her misbehavior and tantrums

( a bit shock for me when she`s start to bitting, kicking and screaming...

even rolling on the floor in public,

just because we don`t want to buy her a toy !!! ) ,

crankiness, fussy-eater, and bla-bla-bla....

I often yell to my hubby,

just because I lose my patience with her.

But another times, she`s so good and so sweet,

even only for few minutes..lol :D

I`ve read lots of parenting articles on website

to improve my parenting skill

on raising healthy, happy and confident toddlers,

but sometimes not really hit the spot.

I`m not good, but I`m trying hard to give the best to her.

So after 1 experiment to another experiment,

slowly I can cope up with these.

She`s my world. She`s my sunshine.

Play & Learn @ Gymboree

First, thanks to Shei Wei , for gave a free pass to Gymboree class quite long time ago. We did the trial class for Evva at Gymboree, Tropicana City Mall at Petaling Jaya.

The class start at 10.20am, around 10 kids with adult company took place included Evva and myself. I would say the place is clean and fun. We do have fun, especially my daughter, so happy playing around. She loves the bubbles time. The teacher was a bit impatient, seem so rushing to catch the next class? I wish the class was a little longer :)

Overall, it`s a great place for kids to socialize, share, play and learn !!!

Today I went to Menara Kuala Lumpur with hubby and Evva, we bought the tickets to The Tower which included complimentary activities for KL Tower F1 Simulator Zone and KL Tower Pony Ride :)


at first, she refused to ride..we never force her also....

after see other kids, she wants it...twice :)

ok..ok...let me listen, don`t disturb ... ;)

Still remember my post about Kids Fair 2010...We went this afternoon. Me, hubby and Evva...I didn`t manage to snap pictures, because I was so busy running and "jaga" my girl...she`s so excited enjoy the environment eventhough most activities not for her age. Once we entered the exhibition hall, we saw a very long-q....oh gosh what`s that? One of mommy told me, "faster q and buy swan bag for your kids !"... Alamak the bag memang so cheap, but the q... *fainted* oh BIG no..no...

So far, this event was so so for me....but not for my girl, she seemed so enjoy playing around with the Teddy bear at Watson booth, parrot and rabbit at Zoo Negara booth, and many more. After that we went to Aquaria Fish Fair at the next hall.
